Decaleurs are traditional quick release mounts for handlebar bags.Unlike some modern bag mounts, they keep the bag low for betterhandling and to keep the handlebars clear.
We offer two styles of decaleurs: a modern fork mount and a traditionalstem mount. The VO fork mount decaleurs are mounted on the fork belowthe headset lock nut and fit 1" or 1-1/8" forks. They are made ofstainless steel and the workmanship is first rate.
The traditional stem mount decaleurs we make are a style of decaleursimilar to those used on classic French constructeur bikes. It mountson the stem bolt of a traditional quill stem, as shown in the photo.
This style of decaleur must be cut to length and then a hole must bedrilled for the bolt. Directions are included.
Our decaleurs work with Berthoud, TA, Ostrich, LaFuma, and most othertraditional-style handlebar bags.
Please remember that a decaleur is intended as a quick releasemechanism, not to support the full weight of the bag. So the bag muststill rest on a rack or on the fender.
Note, that these decaleurs use metric 5mm posts and receivers. The newbag mounts can be used in the old-style 1/4" receivers, but not theother way round. More Info here.
